The
Rashtriya Indian Military College or the RIMC is a prestigious public School
for boys situated in the beautiful Doon Valley, Dehradun in India. The original
name of the School was Prince of Wales Royal Indian Military College but it was
re-named after 1947.
The RIMC
enjoys a great tradition as a feeder institution for the National Defence
Academy and subsequently the Indian Armed Forces. Rimcollians, the name by
which alumni of the RIMC are usually denoted, have gone on to hold the highest
ranks in the Army, Navy and the Air Force of India.
The RIMC
was established in 1922 by the British Empire for training native Indian cadets
for an entry into the Royal Military Academy, Students then trained as officers
of the British Indian Army.
Admission Procedure in RIMC
Only 25
Cadets are admitted every six-month in Rashtriya Indian Military Academy.
Candidates should not be less than 11 ½ years of age or must not have attained
the age of 13 years on 01 (Jan) and 01 (July) of the term they join. Admissions
are made to Class VIII only. The Candidate must be studying in Class VII or
above in a recognized School at the time of joining.
