Himalayan Institute of Medical Sciences is one of the finest and oldest medical colleges in Uttarakhand was established in 1995 by Sri Swami Rama a yogi, scientist, researcher, writer and humanitarian born in northern India. The college is recognised by Medical Council of India (MCI) and is attach to one of the biggest medical hospital in Uttarakhand by the name Himalayan Institute Hospital Trust a 750 bedded hospital . The Himalayan Institute not only started new era in the development of medical education in Uttarakhand but all over India . The teaching faculty in the college is as per MCI requirements and the college meets the recognised standards in medical education.

The teaching faculty of the university is as per requirements of respective statutory councils. The university meets recognized standards of excellence in education and has modern facilities to explore, experiment, and achieve the highest standards in professional skills.
All the students are housed in on-campus modern hostel accommodations. The hostels provide a safe and disciplined lifestyle to students. Housing is provided for undergraduate medical students in five hostels (separate hostels for boys and girls) comprising of 600 rooms. Postgraduate students are placed in studio apartments with cooking facilities.

Graduate Medical Courses
Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS)
The Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) is a four and a half year programme. The University admits 100 students every year for this programme. Thrity percent of the seats are reserved for candidates of Uttarakhand. The programme is recognized by the Medical Council of India. All the students pursuing this programme are required to complete a one year rotatory Internship as per the norms of the Medical Council of India.
Admission Procedure for MBBS : Every year in the month of May, the University conducts the all India level Pre Medical Entrance Examination (PMEE). A merit list is prepared based on this examination. The candidates are called for counseling in the month of June/July. The session starts in August. The information brochure is made available by the University sometime in the month of January of the admission year. Information regarding the availability of the brochure is widely publicized through national newspapers. Thirty percent of the seats are earmarked for candidates of Uttarakhand. The programmes are all recognized by the Medical Council of India.

The Para Medical College of the University is one of its kind in Uttrakhand. The college is attached to a multi-specialty hospital hence providing a rare opportunity for hands-on experience to students. Admission Procedure for Graduate Paramedical CoursesAge: Candidates should have completed 17 years of age by the 31st of December of the admission year.
Qualification and minimum marks: The candidates must have passed the 10+2, i.e. ISC/Intermediate examination or its equivalent examination of any recognized Indian Board / University with Physics, Chemistry, Biology, English subjects with a minimum of 50% marks in Physics, Chemistry and Biology taken together for BPT and 45% marks for all other courses. In respect of candidates belonging to Schedule Castes / Scheduled Tribes or Other Backward Classes, the minimum marks obtained in Physics, Chemistry and Biology/Mathematics taken together in the qualifying examination shall be 45% for BPT and 40% for all other courses. Students who are foreign nationals/non-resident Indians/persons of Indian origin must have passed an examination, which is equivalent to the Higher Secondary (Std. XII) examination in India. The student must obtain certificate of equivalence from the Association of Indian Universities, New Delhi, before admission.

Age: Candidates should have completed 17 years of age as of 31st December of the admission year.
Qualification and minimum marks: Candidates must have passed the 10+2, i.e. I.C.S.E / Intermediate examination or its equivalent examination by recognized Indian Board / University in Physics, Chemistry, Biology or Mathematics subjects and must have secured a minimum of 45% marks. The candidate must have passed in English in the 12th standard.
For the DNT Course candidates should have passed the B.Sc. Physics / Electronics / Computer science with minimum 2nd division in qualifying examination / Diploma in electronic / electrical / instrumentation / 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry, Biology or Math with 50% marks taken together in all subjects / Diploma in Computer / EEG/ 2 years Institutional experience in EEG.
Masters in Hospital Administration
Admission Procedure: Every year in the month of July, the University conducts the all India level Master in Hospital Administration Entrance Examination (MHAEE). A merit list is prepared based on this examination. The candidates are called for counseling in the month of July. The session starts from August.
The information brochure is made available by the University sometime in the month of April of the admission year. The information regarding the availability of the brochure is widely publicized through national newspapers.
Eligibility Criteria: (i) Graduate with Diploma in Hospital Administration (Non-Medical Graduate) OR
(ii) MBBS/BDS/BAMS/BHMS/BUMS/Any Medical Graduate degree/B.Sc Nursing/ BPT/ BMLT/ B.Pharma recognized by Govt of India OR (iii) Masters Degree in any discipline recognized by UGC with a minimum of at least three years administrative/allied experience in a healthcare organization.
The upper age limit shall be 35 years as on 31.12.2011. However, relaxation in age shall be applicable to the sponsored candidates. The sponsored candidates shall be required to submit ‘No Objection Certificate’ from the employer along with the application form.

How to Reach HIHT University
The HIHT University is situated in a lush green valley in the district of Dehradun, in Uttarakhand on the Rishikesh-Dehradun highway, adjacent to the Dehradun Airport. It is well connected by road, rail and air. The nearest railway station is Doiwala which is 6 kilometers away. Other important railheads are Haridwar (35 Km) and Dehradun (25 Km). The Dehradun Airport is situated in the vicinity of the University (1 km)
